I recently watched Becky Campbell’s iquilt class, Innovative Appliqué, and decided to give the project a try. While mine is not nearly as spectacular as hers is, I really enjoyed the class. She give very helpful tips and techniques for making appliqué easier and more enjoyable. I don’t know about yal, but appliqué has always kind of intimidated me. After putting together her class project I decided to go a little further with it.I had been wanting to try some machine quilting designs and thread painting technique so I just decided to go for it on this one. I used several quilting designs laid out all over this piece as you can see. The thread painting is a bit harder to see. It didn’t photograph very well for me. The petals in the flower are thread painted with a variegated thread given them a little more depth and a lot more texture. Overall, I like the outcome of the whole piece. I call it Blooming Crazy :). You can see more from Becky Campbell on her site, SewForever.com
